About The Position

The Salvation Army Rochester Corps is committed to “Doing the Most Good” providing holistic, person-centered services to individuals and families. In addition to worship services and pastoral care, services include short and long-term case management; assistance with food, clothing, utility, and rent; housing; dental and medical services; and connections to community partners. The Pharmacy Technician supports the work of the Good Samaritan Free Clinic by assisting in the safe and accurate preparation, distribution, and documentation of medications for patients with limited or no health insurance. This position collaborates with medical staff, patients, and volunteers to maintain proper inventory, ensure compliance with applicable regulations, and provide administrative support for pharmacy-related services.

Requirements

  • Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician in the state of Minnesota and have completed a state-approved training program.
  • Must meet all state and federal eligibility requirements for pharmacy technician registration.
  • Must successfully pass background checks.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy software, Microsoft Office, databases, and general PC use.
  • Knowledge of medication dispensing procedures and pharmacy terminology, with the ability to work within applicable laws and regulations.
  • Strong math, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Effective verbal communication and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Regular and effective communication with colleagues, patients, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintains confidentiality with integrity and professionalism.
  • Demonstrates honesty, diligence, and a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Medication Preparation & Distribution: Prepare, package, label, and distribute medications accurately and efficiently, including hazardous substances.
  • Administrative Support: Perform administrative tasks such as updating patient records, scheduling appointments, and maintaining documentation.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate medication inventories, ensuring proper stock levels and storage compliance.
  • Patient & Provider Support: Respond to inquiries from patients and healthcare providers. Answer questions accurately, refer to the pharmacist when appropriate, and communicate effectively using established protocols.
