About The Position

Pharmacy Technician is responsible for delivering medication and pharmaceutical care in communities that are most in need. This includes developing close relationships with patients in communities we serve and assisting the pharmacists in accurately preparing and delivering prescription medication.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Active Pharmacy Technician License from the State of Colorado in good standing, or Pharmacy Technician Provisional license from the state of Colorado is required.
  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance as required by law.
  • Ability to enter data into a computer to maintain records.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Good math skills which allow for basic pharmaceutical calculations
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent telephone and customer service skills.
  • Good computer skills
  • Good attention to detail and thorough in completing work tasks.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in the workplace being open to change.
  • Ability to recognize and work within scope of practice and chain of command.
  • Good-natured, cooperative attitude.

Nice To Haves

  • PTCB Certification preferred or willingness to become PTCB certified within 18 months as dictated by the Colorado State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Two years pharmacy technician related experience preferred.
  • Retail pharmacy experience preferred.
  • 340B experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the function and activities of this department to embrace the philosophy, mission, values, and Communicate with Heart service model supported by the Board of Directors of Pueblo Community Health Center, Inc.
  • Adhere to the guidelines and procedures of Pueblo Community Health Center, Inc.
  • Maintain professional working relationships at all times, with the pharmacy personnel, physicians, nurses, and other medical personnel.
  • Understand that the requirements of working in a pharmacy are varied and may change as demands on the department change.
  • Responds promptly to internal and external customer needs, maintains confidentiality.
  • Maintain friendly and helpful attitude at all times when dealing with customers.
  • Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Organizes medications for pharmacist to dispense by profiling prescriptions, preparing labels, and calculating quantities.
  • Ensure medication availability by registering all related sales on cash register, collecting and handling cash as required and ordering medications when needed.
  • Performs duties as assigned by Pharmacy Director, Staff Pharmacist utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
  • reports, prescription errors to pharmacist on duty.
  • Ensures pharmacy safety by answering telephones and acknowledging patients present at the pharmacy and attending to them, thus freeing the pharmacist to focus on prescription verification and other duties.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Works with pharmacy team to ensure best practices are being followed with regards to 340B.
  • Maintain active licensure and all requirements of such.
  • Promptly complete all necessary trainings and certifications.
  • Other duties as assigned
