About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Supervisor or Pharmacist, this role plays a critical part in ensuring the efficient and accurate delivery of pharmacy services. The primary focus is on supporting patient care by performing essential technical and administrative tasks, including verifying prescription refills, preparing and labeling medications, maintaining inventory, and managing daily financial transactions. This position emphasizes patient-centered care, requiring proactive engagement with members to understand their needs, build trust, and resolve issues promptly. The individual contributes to a safe, compliant, and well-organized pharmacy environment by adhering to quality, safety, and emergency protocols, while also supporting and coordinating the work of Pharmacy Clerks to maintain optimal workflow and service levels.

Requirements

  • Minimum one (1) year of pharmacy technician work experience, OR one (1) year of experience as a Colorado Pharmacy Clerk, OR completion of a pharmacy technician training program of at least five (5) months with a community practice rotation, OR certification by a nationally recognized Board.
  • Pharmacy Tech Certification (Colorado) or Provisional Pharmacy Tech Certification (Colorado).
  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Drug Screen, Background Screen, and Health Assessment/Orientation within two (2) weeks of hire.
  • Travel, 100% of the Time

Responsibilities

  • Complies with all the clients quality, safety, and emergency policies and procedures; consistently applies two patient identifiers and procedural time outs to ensure patient safety.
  • Verifies prescription refill requests by reviewing original prescriptions, patient identification, refill limits, and timing requirements; contacts medical staff as needed to obtain authorization.
  • Accurately types prescription labels with all required information (patient name, physician, medication, strength, instructions, prescription number, date, and initials).
  • Selects, counts, and dispenses medications according to prescription orders; applies labels and refill instructions to containers.
  • Calculates prescription costs using standard pricing procedures and generates sales receipts; prepares and files completed orders for pharmacist review.
  • Maintains accurate medication inventory levels in accordance with storage protocols; conducts regular audits and initiates reordering as needed.
  • Receives, checks, and stores pre-packaged medications from the central warehouse; restocks shelves and ensures a clean, organized work area.
  • Balances daily cash transactions by reconciling cash, checks, and credit card receipts; prepares daily cash reports and bank deposits.
  • Assists the supervisor in coordinating the workflow and activities of Pharmacy Clerks; provides guidance and support to maintain service efficiency.
  • Monitors cashiering operations to uphold security and control standards; helps resolve daily operational challenges.
  • Performs all duties of a Pharmacy Clerk as required, including supporting patient interactions and administrative tasks.
