About The Position
The pharmacy technician's primary responsibility is for the daily storage, preparing and dispensing drugs in accordance with standard procedures under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This position is Monday through Friday, day shift, and takes call.
Requirements
- Pharmacy technician certification required – Louisiana Board of Pharmacy
- 1 year of experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Retrieve and interpret medication orders
- perform pharmaceutical calculations, taking into account patient and drug characteristics
- enter medication orders into pharmacy computer system for pharmacist’s review
- Label, fill and deliver medication to appropriate patient care locations/ medication dispensing machines
- Inventory, order, receive and stock supplies and medications
- Pull discontinued or expired medications from stock and patient areas/ discard or return to stock as appropriate, complete corresponding documentation
- Review daily reports from medication dispensing machines for accuracy
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein
- Performs other duties as assigned
