About The Position

The pharmacy department at Dearborn is responsible for providing medication reliably and safely for our patients. We are a resource for medication information for providers, staff and patients. Pharmacy spans across the continuum of care, from outpatient to inpatient, ambulatory and specialty to critical care. Corewell Health Dearborn Hospital has proudly served residents across Southeast Michigan since 1953. With 632 beds, Corewell Health Dearborn Hospital is a major teaching and research hospital and home to five residency programs and a cardiology fellowship in partnership with Wayne State University School of Medicine. Corewell Health Dearborn Hospital is verified as a Level II trauma center and accredited by the Joint Commission as a primary stroke center. The hospital is also known for clinical excellence and innovation in the fields of orthopedics, neurosciences, women’s health, heart and vascular and cancer care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma program or GED.
  • Experience with sterile compounding and/or 6 months technician experience and/or graduate of an ASHP accredited technician training program.
  • LIC-Pharmacy Technician - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or LIC-Pharmacist Intern - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required

Responsibilities

  • Fills medication orders including oral, injectable and topical medications and intravenous admixtures.
  • Assists in the bulk manufacturing of special pharmaceutical products.
  • Prepares and distributes floor stock items in response to requisition forms.
  • Inventories and restocks shelves in immediate work area, checks for outdated drugs.
  • Enters charges and credits into the computer for all medications and IV admixtures dispensed from the Pharmacy, documents all medications and IV solutions returned to the Pharmacy.
  • Distributes prepared medications to patient care areas and/or other departments of the Hospital.
  • Performs necessary record keeping functions.
  • Answers telephone and assists at Pharmacy window.
  • May rotate within hospital and out-patient pharmacy service areas as required.
  • Maintains the work area in a safe, orderly manner.
  • Follows appropriate clean room (797) guidelines in the preparation of intravenous admixtures
