At CVS Health, Pharmacy Technicians (Technicians) are crucial in supporting pharmacy teams to deliver operational and service excellence within retail stores. They serve as the first point of contact for patients and customers, ensuring an exceptional experience. Technicians assist in smooth pharmacy operations, prompt, safe, and accurate prescription fulfillment, and provide caring service. They operate by consistent application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication, demonstrating genuine care and contributing to a safe and inclusive culture. Once in role, Technicians must complete a rigorous company training program and satisfy all state-specific registration, licensing, and certification requirements. Until these requirements are met, duties may be restricted by the Pharmacy Manager. Technicians are responsible for contributing to safe and effective pharmacy operations, including following SOPs, workflow procedures, and enhancing patient experiences through empathetic interactions, offering immunizations and other services, and resolving or escalating patient problems. They also handle basic inventory activities, embrace a growth mindset, remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety, controlled substance compliance, and patient privacy. Where permissible, Technicians may also support immunizations, which involves additional licensure and training, preparing and administering vaccines, educating patients, monitoring and reporting adverse reactions, reviewing and collecting patient information, and managing vaccine supplies.
