About The Position

Boone Memorial Health is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Registered Pharmacy Technician to support daily pharmacy operations in our inpatient setting. The ideal candidate will assist pharmacists with medication preparation, inventory management, order processing, and customer service while maintaining compliance with all state and regulatory standards. This role plays an important part in ensuring safe, accurate, and timely medication delivery to our patients.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program as required by the WV Board of Pharmacy (Legislature Rules 15 C.R.S. 7)
  • Registration as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of West Virginia (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well with others
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to view a computer screen for extended periods
  • Ability to follow procedures and work under direct pharmacist supervision

Nice To Haves

  • Previous pharmacy technician or healthcare experience is helpful but not required

Responsibilities

  • Fill and prepare medication orders under the direct supervision of a pharmacist
  • Maintain patient medication records and assist with charging documents
  • Monitor stock levels, check for expired medications, and maintain inventory accuracy
  • Place orders for medications and supplies when needed
  • Check in vendor orders and restock medications in assigned areas, including ER and nursing units
  • Deliver and pick up medication orders throughout the facility
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy
  • Process employee prescriptions as permitted by state regulations
  • Assist with IV admixture preparation using USP 797 compliant procedures
  • Participate in inpatient medication box fill processes
  • Attend required pharmacy and hospital meetings, educational sessions, and orientation programs
  • Update pharmacy publications, maintain bulletin boards, and note low-stock items in the want-book
  • Provide customer service by acknowledging employees and visitors in a timely manner
  • Enter physician orders into the CPSI system when requested by the pharmacist
  • Participate in physical inventory processes
  • Assist with controlled substance documentation and processing
  • Support emergency pharmacy services when needed
  • Maintain a professional attitude that promotes teamwork and a positive work environment
  • Complete all required annual Care Learning modules
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pharmacy equipment as needed
  • Credit patients for returned medications and return relabeled items to shelves
