About The Position

Pharmacy Technician UnityPoint – Allen Hospital Inpatient, Allen Hospital Retail Pharmacy, & Prairie Parkway Retail Pharmacy Full Time, Part Time, or As Needed (PRN); Schedules vary by role and location and may include daytime, evening, and rotating weekend shifts. Full-time positions are eligible for a $3,000 sign-on bonus! The Pharmacy Technician is accountable for supporting safe and efficient pharmacy operations across retail and inpatient pharmacy settings. This role assists pharmacists with medication preparation, dispensing, distribution, inventory management, and customer service while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and high-quality patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Requirements

  • Registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Knowledge of the departments policies and guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Participates in Tech Product Verification, completes Omnicell rounds, and monitors/maintains automated dispensing systems.
  • Prepares and compounds sterile and non-sterile medications according to USP standards and performs reconstitutions as required.
  • Completes accurate medication history reconciliations and supports medication preparation and delivery to nursing and ancillary units.
  • Fills unit dose medications, operating room and anesthesia machine medications, and manages narcotic pulls and deliveries.
  • Performs monthly nursing unit checks, outdate reviews, and restocks crash carts, kits, and stroke boxes.
  • Processes floor stock orders, refill requests, admission/discharge/transfer labels, and assists with inventory and wholesaler ordering.
  • Maintains quality and safety standards by documenting refrigerator temperatures, answering/triaging calls, and troubleshooting Omnicell equipment.
