About The Position

A detail‑oriented Hospital Pharmacy Technician supporting licensed pharmacists in the preparation, compounding, dispensing, and distribution of medications within a fast‑paced inpatient clinical setting. Plays a critical role in ensuring safe, accurate, and timely medication delivery to patient care units while adhering to hospital policies, medication safety standards, and USP 797/800 guidelines. Proficient in unit dose distribution, sterile and non‑sterile compounding, automated dispensing systems, inventory management, and regulatory compliance, contributing to efficient pharmacy operations and optimal patient care outcomes. Requirements

  • Previous pharmacy technician experience preferred
  • State Pharmacy Technician License/Registration required (if required by state regulations)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of ASHP-accredited or equivalent pharmacy technician training program preferred
  • 340B program experience preferred (if at a 340B facility)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, fill, and label inpatient medication orders under pharmacist supervision.
  • Compound sterile and non‑sterile medications, including IV solutions, using proper aseptic technique.
  • Stock, load, and maintain automated dispensing cabinets and medication carts throughout the hospital.
  • Manage inventory: monitor stock levels, check expiration dates, and maintain accurate drug storage compliance.
  • Prepare emergency trays, crash carts, and specialty kits ensuring readiness for urgent use.
  • Deliver medications to nursing units and coordinate with nurses and providers on medication needs.
  • Follow all safety, regulatory, and hospital policies including USP sterile compounding standards and controlled‑substance handling requirements.
