About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician works under the direct supervision of a pharmacist to fill medication orders, deliver orders and to perform other pharmacy service duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent. Completion of Pharmacy Technician Certificate program or at least one year of training as a Pharmacy Technician (preferred)
  • Current State of Wisconsin Registered Pharmacy Technician or ability to obtain within 3 Months of application.
  • Experience in IV admixtures, unit dose drug distribution and computer entry
  • Knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures, & general hospital practices
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other employees & departments, & display a positive attitude
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Pharmacy Technician Certificate program or at least one year of training as a Pharmacy Technician

Responsibilities

  • Restocking of ADCs (Omnicells) and InstyMeds machine
  • Check for outdated medications and pulling them from inventory
  • Fill Omnicell generated restock lists with needed medications for Pharmacist to check
  • Deliver meds/IV’s to different areas of hospital/clinic
  • Repackage unit dose medications
  • Inventory management (placing daily drug order, putting order away on shelves, reconciling items ordered with items received, sending copy of wholesaler invoice to Accounts Payable at the end of each month, order pharmacy internal use products through materials management as needed)
  • Rotates medication stock
  • Dusting/wiping down shelves and medication bins
  • Code pharmacy charges
  • Bulk charge appropriately dispensed medications as needed
  • Conduct monthly checks of all departments containing drugs
  • Calculates monthly crash cart integrity compliance rates
  • Disposes of pharmaceutical waste properly
  • Keeps pharmacist informed of workload status
  • Has knowledge in controlled substances
  • Refills emergency med carts, kits, boxes
  • Prepares for and conducts year-end inventory
  • Help prepare for Joint Commission Survey readiness
  • Daily and monthly cleaning of sterile compounding area
  • Check and record refrigerator temperatures
  • Check and record temperatures and pressures of sterile compounding area
  • Helping with troubleshooting and any other duties as assigned by pharmacist
