About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician for Long-Term Care will be responsible for coordinating and maintaining operations as necessary to manage filling adherence packaging for various customer types. The position will serve as a liaison between Winona Clinic Pharmacy and contracted skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and caregivers. They will work closely with the Lead Retail Pharmacy Technician, Retail Pharmacists and the Director of Pharmacy Services for implementation and improvement of related processes/systems. They are responsible for ensuring the long-term care filling process and workflows are managed in accordance to pharmacy law and Winona Health policy. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to be self-directed. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: facility management, resident management, insurance management, order entry, punch card packaging, emergency box management, supply ordering, drug ordering, IV preparation, and other tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician by the State of Minnesota
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician designation required
  • Ability to perform basic to intermediate math calculations, including solving equations
  • Basic Computer Skills: Word, Excel, and Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Able to perform and understand the functions and work flow process needed to fill retail and long-term care prescriptions. This will include prescription entry, insurance billing, medication packaging, overrides procedure, register procedures, refused counseling documentation, and alerting pharmacist for 'new' prescription counseling.
  • Serves as a resource and liaison to our customers, namely long term care facilities and other internal and external customers, departments, or vendors.
  • Responsible for conducting department-specific new employee orientation and training existing staff on the long-term care filling process.
  • Capable of generating various reports on pharmacy software (PioneerRx) as needed for nursing home management, accounting, pharmacy law requirements, billing office or any other reports request
  • Also expected to supplement and cover pharmacy customer needs outside of long-term care specific customers as need arises.
  • Other duties as assigned.
