About The Position

This full-time, nonexempt Pharmacy Technician position will assist in various pharmacy activities under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Responsibilities include preparing, delivering, and restocking medications; performing order entry; procuring drugs; and billing. The role requires adherence to written procedures and guidelines based on pharmacy standards and regulatory requirements. The pharmacy is located within Huntsville Memorial Hospital, 110 Memorial Hospital Drive, Huntsville, Texas 77340.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Active Texas state Pharmacy Technician license in good standing
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)
  • IV Certification required or has to be acquired within the first 90 days of hire
  • Recent work experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Proficiency with pharmacy software
  • Proven excellent customer service skills including effective communication skills, both verbal and written

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and dispense medications by measuring, counting, labeling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist
  • Process prescription orders accurately, including entering patient and prescription data into pharmacy systems
  • Assist pharmacists and healthcare providers by gathering necessary information and supporting workflow efficiency
  • Prepare and compound medications (including IV admixtures and sterile products) following hospital protocols and USP standards
  • Process medication orders from electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) with accuracy and urgency
  • Deliver medications to patient care areas, including automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) and nursing units
  • Maintain medication inventory by restocking, tracking controlled substances, and monitoring expiration dates
  • Support medication safety initiatives, including double-checks, labeling, and documentation
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and clinical staff to ensure timely and safe medication delivery
  • Comply with hospital policies and regulatory standards, including Joint Commission and state/federal regulations
