About The Position

NaphCare has an excellent opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our Corporate Headquarters in Birmingham, AL supporting the Residential Reentry Centers (RRC) for the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP).Under the direct supervision of the Director – RRMB, the Pharmacy Technician is responsible for receiving and approving prescription requests for the Residential Reentry Centers (RRC) residents.

Requirements

  • Must hold and maintain a current, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician certification issued by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience.

Nice To Haves

  • PTCB Certification is a plus. If not certified, must be able to acquire certification within 12 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Use knowledge and expertise to ensure that pharmaceutical processes and systems are followed appropriately according to policies and procedures, company performance, and accreditation standards.
  • Communicate effectively with RRC case managers, BOP contacts, NaphCare team members and third-party pharmacy provider.
  • Maintain clear lines of communication throughout issue-resolution processes.
  • Demonstrate personal performance based on professional practice standards, relevant statutes, rules and regulations and organizational criteria.
  • Receive electronic prescription and refill requests and verify that information is complete and accurate.
  • Work with third-party pharmacy provider to approve overrides for costly medications.
  • Check bi-monthly invoices for accuracy and send for payment in a timely manner.
  • Work with Pharmacy Benefit Manager team to bring new pharmacies on board when needed.
  • Must complete sufficient hours of CEU to maintain Technician license.
  • Ensure that all pharmaceutical services provided within the facility conform to state licensure, accreditation, regulatory agency requirements, and company policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate professionalism by using objectivity, maintaining self-control when under pressure, separating professional from personal issues, displaying emotional maturity, maintaining a high degree of integrity, and promoting a positive work environment by setting an example.
  • Notify critical information to the next level of management that may have a negative impact on client and/or vendor relations or patient care.
  • Willingness to complete special projects as needed from management.
  • Willingness to work overtime if necessary.
