About The Position
Prepares and delivers medications to patients and/or nursing units under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner. Demonstrates the ability to competently work in different general and specialized areas of pharmacy practice. The IV Room is a specialized unit within UVA Health’s Inpatient Pharmacy, dedicated to sterile compounding in a newly renovated, state-of-the-art clean room. This environment supports high-acuity patient care across the hospital’s 528-bed inpatient census.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or Equivalent
- 6 months minimum relevant experience
- Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration required
- CPhT credential through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required
Responsibilities
- Perform sterile compounding of IV medications in compliance with USP <797> and <800> standards
- Prepare chemotherapy, antibiotics, and other critical infusions for both adult and pediatric patients
- Operate within a controlled clean room environment to ensure safety and accuracy
- Collaborate with pharmacists to meet urgent and routine patient needs
