Our Chester, MT, Pharmacy Team is looking for a part-time (20 hours per week) Pharmacy Technician to join them! Why consider this position? Flexible scheduling Additional Shift Differential pay Eligible to participate in our generous matching 401(k) Eligible for Medical Benefits Employee Assistance Program (EAP) This position is based out of our Logan Health Chester pharmacy, and Under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, will assist the Pharmacist in providing medications to appropriate clinical staff at Logan Health. It is expected that the Pharmacy Technician will work within their scope of practice (non-clinical) to provide exceptional customer service, quality patient care and assist the Pharmacist with technical and clerical aspects to ensure patient safety.

Requirements

  • Possess an active Pharmacy Technician licensure with the Montana Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) in good standing.
  • RQI First Responder required.
  • Proficient typing skills required.
  • Must have an understanding of medical terminology and calculations.
  • Must have fluent knowledge of medication brand and generic names.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Technician training program preferred.
  • Prior health care experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in Pharmacy Systems and Electronic Health Records preferred.
  • Possess ability to learn other software as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Understands and completes all aspects of medication distribution from the pharmacy to all areas assigned including, but not limited to; inpatient and/or outpatient dispensing.
  • Filling the automated dispensing system and utilizing the bar code scanning.
  • Filling patient drawers in all nursing units.
  • Delivering medications in the most efficient manner to all areas assigned.
  • Completes rounds according to current policy.
  • Promptly and efficiently answers telephone calls, responds to inquiries and routes appropriately as needed.
  • Performs all tasks associated with maintaining the pharmacy inventory.
  • Ordering, receiving, and shelving medications.
  • Documents and communicates drug shortages.
  • Monitors the pharmacy inventory for out dated medications, and disposes according to current policy.
  • Exhibits a working knowledge of all pharmacy computer systems as required by location.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly environment.
  • Actively continues education to keep abreast of Pharmacy law and to maintain current licensure.
  • Maintains regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership.
