About The Position

Muskegon Family Care is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Technician to join their team. The Pharmacy Technician, under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Business Manager and in collaboration with the Director of Pharmacy, plays a crucial role in assisting Pharmacists with filling and labeling patient prescriptions, updating patient personal and insurance information, and ensuring accuracy throughout the prescription filling process. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician License.
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Understanding of medical terminology.
  • Ability to respect confidentiality and patient data.
  • Maintains a courteous, helpful and conscientious attitude in dealing with co-workers and patients and their families ensuring professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
  • Regular and prompt attendance at work.

Nice To Haves

  • Three to six months related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Computer and Medical Terminology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Enters prescription orders into QS1 accurately and efficiently.
  • Creates and updates patient’s personal profile in EHR including patient demographics, allergy information, and insurance information.
  • Counts 25 prescriptions per hour accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensures that the patient receives correct prescriptions.
  • Answer the phone in a timely manner.
  • Assists Pharmacists with filling and labeling prescriptions.
  • Communicates with providers and their staff to obtain refill authorization.
  • Knowledge of common medication brands and generic names, doses, and indication to patients and staff.
  • Collect cash and/ or credit for payment of prescriptions
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Ability to respect confidentiality and patient data
  • Maintains a courteous, helpful and conscientious attitude in dealing with co-workers and patients and their families ensuring professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
  • Keeps the work area neat and clean.
  • Regular and prompt attendance at work.
  • All other duties as assigned.
