About The Position

As a Pharmacy Technician at McKesson Corporation, you will play a crucial role in supporting the pharmacy team by accurately and efficiently assisting in the preparation and dispensing of medications, managing inventory, and providing excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • Typically requires 3+ years of related experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) from a recognized organization (e.g. PTCB, NHA) and/or state registration/licensure as required by state law.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical terminology, generic and brand name medications, and drug calculations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Proficiency in using pharmacy software systems and basic computer applications.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally and stand for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail, hospital, or long-term care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists with the preparation and dispensing of prescription medications, including counting, pouring, weighing, measuring, and mixing drugs.
  • Process prescription orders, including verifying patient information, insurance details, and physician authorizations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of medications and supplies, including receiving, stocking, rotating, and managing expired products.
  • Prepare and package medications for delivery or pickup, ensuring proper labeling and storage.
  • Answer patient and customer inquiries, providing information on medication availability, pricing, and general pharmacy services.
  • Operate and maintain pharmacy equipment, including automated dispensing systems.
  • Process billing and insurance claims, resolving any discrepancies or issues.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as McKesson's policies and procedures, regarding pharmacy practice and patient privacy (HIPAA).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with pharmacists, other technicians, and healthcare professionals.
