About The Position

As a Pharmacy Technician at McKesson Corporation, you will play a crucial role in supporting the pharmacy team by accurately and efficiently assisting in the preparation and dispensing of medications, managing inventory, and providing excellent customer service.

Requirements

Typically requires 3+ years of related experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Current Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) from a recognized organization (e.g. PTCB, NHA) and/or state registration/licensure as required by state law.
Strong understanding of pharmaceutical terminology, generic and brand name medications, and drug calculations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong customer service orientation.
Proficiency in using pharmacy software systems and basic computer applications.
Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally and stand for extended periods.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail, hospital, or long-term care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist pharmacists with the preparation and dispensing of prescription medications, including counting, pouring, weighing, measuring, and mixing drugs.
Process prescription orders, including verifying patient information, insurance details, and physician authorizations.
Maintain accurate inventory of medications and supplies, including receiving, stocking, rotating, and managing expired products.
Prepare and package medications for delivery or pickup, ensuring proper labeling and storage.
Answer patient and customer inquiries, providing information on medication availability, pricing, and general pharmacy services.
Operate and maintain pharmacy equipment, including automated dispensing systems.
Process billing and insurance claims, resolving any discrepancies or issues.
Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as McKesson's policies and procedures, regarding pharmacy practice and patient privacy (HIPAA).
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Collaborate effectively with pharmacists, other technicians, and healthcare professionals.
