About The Position

Symbria Rx Services at our Sharpsburg, PA location is seeking a team oriented, experienced Pharmacy Technician who shares our commitment to ensuring the health and wellness of seniors. The Ideal candidate will be a tech savvy, quick study with the ability to wear multiple hats. POSITION SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to assist the pharmacist in the preparation of medications for distribution to Long-Term Care (LTC) communities based on physician orders, achieved by following departmental policies and procedures within the scope of pharmacy standards. Working Hours: 100% on-site

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Illinois Pharmacy Technician license and Certification (CPhT) as per state requirements.
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling and commercial arithmetic with ability to write in a clear and legible manner.
  • Excellent professional phone and customer service skills.
  • Ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions.
  • General computer knowledge including Windows applications.
  • Ability to learn abbreviations, brand and generic comparisons for interpreting prescriptions and for filling.

Nice To Haves

  • Pharmacy experience; minimum one year.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the pharmacist(s) on duty as their primary responsibility; performing these duties as priority.
  • Fills orders accurately and efficiently in a timely manner, under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Develops knowledge of pharmacy policies and procedures and complies with them.
  • Assists in toting area for medication deliveries as necessary.
  • Any and all duties as assigned by pharmacists or managers.
  • Process orders for scheduled daily cycle fill medication deliveries via automated dispensing machines.
  • Maintain accurate medication information in machine software databases.
  • Perform quality assurance checks on medication strips and correct any machine or user errors.
  • Organize medication strips in clients’ community wings accurately according to specification of each home.
  • Verify each active resident has a medication strip and excludes all discontinued orders.
  • Monitor and maintain automated dispensing machine consumables.
  • Communicate and problem solve with client staff regarding resident medication information.
  • Meet daily deadlines of scheduled medication deliveries.
  • Accurately package new and refill orders in the pharmacy software system with emphasis on correct drug product and quantities.
  • Monitor supply of pre-packaged medication cards and initiate packing of new cards when supply is low.
  • Repack unit dose medications utilizing automated dispensing and unit-dose packaging machines.
  • Prepare external compounds neatly and accurately.
  • Meet the daily deadlines of scheduled medication deliveries.
  • Stock the pharmacy with inventory daily.
