About The Position

Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital, established in 1977, has grown to 530 licensed beds and provides a comprehensive range of healthcare services to meet the needs of its expanding community. The Pharmacy Technician role involves filling medication orders, including oral, injectable, topical medications, and intravenous admixtures. This position also assists in the bulk manufacturing of special pharmaceutical products, prepares and distributes floor stock items, and manages inventory by restocking shelves and checking for outdated drugs. Key administrative tasks include entering charges and credits for dispensed medications and IV admixtures, documenting returns, and distributing prepared medications to patient care areas or other hospital departments. The technician is also responsible for record-keeping, answering telephones, and assisting at the Pharmacy window. Rotation within hospital and outpatient pharmacy service areas may be required. Maintaining a safe and orderly work area and adhering to appropriate clean room (797) guidelines for intravenous admixture preparation are essential aspects of the role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma program or GED.
  • Experience with sterile compounding and/or 6 months technician experience and/or graduate of an ASHP accredited technician training program.
  • LIC-Pharmacy Technician - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or LIC-Pharmacist Intern - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required.

Responsibilities

  • Fills medication orders including oral, injectable and topical medications and intravenous admixtures.
  • Assists in the bulk manufacturing of special pharmaceutical products.
  • Prepares and distributes floor stock items in response to requisition forms.
  • Inventories and restocks shelves in immediate work area, checks for outdated drugs.
  • Enters charges and credits into the computer for all medications and IV admixtures dispensed from the Pharmacy, documents all medications and IV solutions returned to the Pharmacy.
  • Distributes prepared medications to patient care areas and/or other departments of the Hospital.
  • Performs necessary record keeping functions.
  • Answers telephone and assists at Pharmacy window.
  • May rotate within hospital and out-patient pharmacy service areas as required.
  • Maintains the work area in a safe, orderly manner.
  • Follows appropriate clean room (797) guidelines in the preparation of intravenous admixtures
