Assists the pharmacists with support activities and processes related to medication distribution within the hospital. Receives medication and other supplies for storage. Stocks Automated Medication Dispensing Cabinets (AMDCs) or areas where medications are stored. Prepares, packages, and labels medications to be dispensed to patients. Compounds non-sterile products according to USP <795> standards. Shows compliance with receiving and handling of hazardous drugs according to USP <800> standards. Demonstrates computer proficiency with software related to dispensing of medications. Additional duties such as compounding of sterile products per USP <797> guidelines, compounding hazardous sterile products per USP <800> guidelines, and pharmacy technician duties in the operating room satellite pharmacy may be expected at the discretion of the Pharmacy Operations Manager.

  • High School graduate or equivalent, or enrolled in high school.
  • Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician with the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy or able to obtain license prior to start date.
  • Basic math calculations and computer skills.
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with fellow associates.
  • Clear and effective communication.
  • Self-motivated, diligent, attention to detail.
  • Prior pharmacy technician experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
