About The Position

Assists licensed pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications per policy and protocol. Maintains inventory, supports department operations, and upholds confidentiality and ethical standards while ensuring safe and accurate medication handling.

Requirements

  • Registered with the Mississippi State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to type 30 WPM.
  • Effective communication (verbal and written).
  • Moderate computer and data entry proficiency.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, and kneeling.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs independently; >50 lbs with assistance/devices.
  • Assist with patient mobility and stocking/handling of medication supplies.
  • Manual dexterity for medication preparation, equipment operation, and computer use.

Nice To Haves

  • College coursework preferred.
  • Experience in pharmacy operations or healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Procure and distribute medication orders per physician/pharmacist request or assigned workflow.
  • Maintain medication inventory and supplies following established procedures.
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement activities.
  • Maintain competence in assigned areas.
  • Adapt to workload changes and handle frequent interruptions.
  • Perform at least three major roles (Front Counter, Omnicell, IV Admixture, Nursing Home/Hospice Pharmacy, Charges/Billing, Employee Pharmacy, Nightshift).
  • Adhere to safety, confidentiality, and organizational policies.
  • Interact effectively with providers, patients, and team members.
  • Maintain ethical conduct and accurate documentation.
