About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician Trainee - Stockroom (Inpatient) position at the University of Rochester is designed for individuals who are preparing to become certified pharmacy technicians. Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Enrollment in the URMC ASHP accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program (PTTP) required or certification through an alternate method within 6 months of employment.
• Must be at least eighteen years of age at the time of application.
• Previous work experience in health care or a fast-paced environment preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Previous pharmacy experience may allow for an alternate pathway to certification.

Responsibilities

• Train and participate in medication preparation activities, including preparing medication orders and packaging medications.
• Train and participate in efficient medication delivery activities, utilizing systems like pneumatic tubes and hand delivery.
• Train and participate in medication storage and inventory management, including stocking and checking expiration dates.
• Engage in customer service activities, employing effective communication and triaging medication requests appropriately.
• Complete all assigned computer-based learning modules and participate in experiential rotations as part of the Pharmacy Technician University (PTU) program.
