The primary responsibility of this position is to perform medication histories for patients being admitted, while also fulfilling central pharmacy staffing requirements. The shift schedule includes weekdays, every other weekend, and holidays. The role involves complex pharmaceutical processes that require advanced skills and knowledge beyond those typically required for pharmacy technician roles. The position operates primarily in atypical environments such as hazardous sterile compounding, operating rooms, automation, remote dispensing, medication history, purchasing, or billing/insurance coordination. The individual will serve as an expert with equipment and technology in their specialized area, problem-solving technical issues as they arise, and ensuring that documents and records are accurately and timely completed. The role also includes identifying quality improvement opportunities and providing input to support operational changes and advancements.

  • Must be registered or licensed as required based on state of practice.
  • Pharmacy Technician certification issued by Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or ExCPT.
  • High School Graduate.
  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in hospital or retail pharmacy technician role.
  • Second certification in Immunization and non-vaccine injectable issued by the state of practice or ACPE.
