About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician (Senior) to perform activities in support of the Pharmacy department. Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, assist in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory and maintenance of records. Carries out the calculations required for the usual dosage determinations and solutions preparation using weight and volume equivalents in both the metric and apothecary systems and has a registered pharmacist check prior to use for preparation of product. Issues controlled substances, under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, to patient care areas and maintains records as required by law. Collects data, conducts inspections and maintains logs and other documentation as assigned. Performs a variety of service and administrative tasks so that the needs of the customer and fellow team members are met in a timely manner. Serves as a primary training resource for new pharmacy technicians and assist in evaluating their progress as directed Function in accordance with standard written procedures, guidelines and state and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Associate's Degree from an accredited college, university, or technical school preferred.
  • Five years of hospital experience required.
  • License as a Pharmacy Technician in the District of Columbia required.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities
