Position Purpose: Certified Pharmacy Tech Senior will assist the pharmacist in assuring timely and accurate provision of medications to patients. Routine technician functions are performed under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. These functions may include unit dose dispensing, intravenous admixing, inventory control, record keeping and billing, and use of equipment and automated technology. Additional responsibilities include special projects as assigned by managers, assisting with purchasing, developing staffing patterns and assignments for other technicians, prioritizing work responsibilities, and precepting/training newly hired technicians. The Certified Pharmacy Technician Senior must have expertise in a particular area in order to serve as a resource for other pharmacy staf What You Will Do: Prepares and restocks medications for automated dispensing cabinets Conducts maintenance on automated dispensing cabinets; Resolves issues/errors (i.e. misfills; drawer recovery) · Assists in inventory control by verifying and putting away orders by the end of the shift each day; assures proper stock rotation, reviews stock for proper storage and current expiration dates, and identifies drugs and non-drug stocks needing to be reordered; · Prepares sterile products; properly labels medications and maintains records as required by department Policy and Procedures and state and federal law · Assists the department with proper billing of patients and other units · Properly prioritizes workload; demonstrates responsibility and ability to act independently in areas not requiring the professional judgment of a registered pharmacist · Maintains personal compliance with continuous regulatory readiness; assists in maintaining departmental compliance with continuous regulatory readiness · Identifies/develops competencies and education for areas of expertise · Responsible for equipment maintenance including troubleshooting and repair, preventative equipment maintenance, equipment calibration and certification, and maintaining user access. · Assisting with product enhancements, upgrades and installations. · Trains pharmacy technicians. · Assesses the staffing pattern, makes adjustments and prioritizes technician work on a daily basis. · Provides input to Certified Pharmacy Technician Lead/manager/Pharmacy Director for annual performance appraisals of Pharmacy Technicians · Acts as liaison to system analyst and vendors. · Maintains personal compliance with continuous regulatory readiness; Assists in maintaining departmental compliance with continuous regulatory readiness. · Completes special projects as assigned by the director, manager, clinical coordinator, or systems analyst.
