About The Position

Under direct supervision, provides specialized services surrounding the use, monitoring and handling of investigational new drugs that require more detailed processes to ensure safe and appropriate use. Responsibilities Manages inventory for clinical investigational drugs including ordering of investigational drugs and supplies. Assists in development and training of pharmacy staff in the area of investigational drug/agent handling and dispensing. Performs internal audits of investigational drug dispensing records and helps resolve discrepancies. Prepares and/or admix investigational drugs using proper technique and protocol direction under the supervision of a pharmacist. Monitors for expiration and re-testing of investigational drugs, isolation of expired drugs and returns or disposes supplies as required. Participates in the set up of clinical trials, as required, including evaluation of pharmacy manuals and preparation instructions. Meets with external monitors and responds to questions regarding inventory control, storage and monitoring. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate and care for automated dispensing devices and equipment.
  • Knowledge of, and ability to perform, aseptic technique.
  • Knowledge of basic inventory procedures and pharmacy information systems.
  • Meticulous attention to detail; exhibits accuracy and thoroughness while monitoring own work for quality.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Ability to work in situations involving uncertainty and rapid change.
  • A solid customer service acumen to effectively work with both internal and external customers and respond to requests in a timely and respectful manner.
  • High school Diploma or GED is required.
  • Registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy in good standing is required.
