This recruitment will be used to fill Pharmacy Technician Float vacancies that support the regional areas of the Multnomah County Pharmacies. Regional Float Locations can be found by clicking here . These positions will float to the locations in their regions, AND on occasion to any location as needed to meet minimum staffing requirements. Pharmacy Technicians provide technical support to Pharmacists in the practice of Pharmacy in accordance with federal and State of Oregon Pharmacy Board Rules and Regulations.

Requirements

  • Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be as noted below. All non-traditional education, training and experience will be evaluated.
  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade
  • Minimum of 6 months experience working in a retail pharmacy setting.
  • Currently licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in the state of Oregon in good standing by the Oregon Board of Pharmacy
  • The ability to apply an equity, intersectional and anti-racist lens.
  • The ability to exercise good judgment, diplomacy, and tact in dealing with sensitive, complex, confidential information and situations, in addition to acting professionally, and empathetically, with individuals and communities.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional specialized training in pharmacy or a related field is desirable.
  • Experience working in a retail and/or community health center pharmacy setting.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • The position requires the knowledge and understanding of culture, traditions, attitudes, beliefs, social experience and history of those experiencing oppression and barriers to opportunity.
  • This position must demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of the origins and results of the disparities experienced by individuals and families related to racism and social-economic injustices.

Responsibilities

  • Gather patient information needed for prescription processing.
  • Perform on-line billing, call third-party insurances for clarification and resolution of claim rejections, confirm payments.
  • Prepare prescriptions by counting, pouring, or mixing medications and labeling containers.
  • Answer phones, take messages for refill requests, pull medications from stock for the pharmacists, and file written prescriptions after prescriptions are dispensed.
  • Answer questions from the staff/patients that do not require a Pharmacist's professional expertise or judgment.
  • Assist staff/patients to ensure timely quality customer service is delivered.
  • Review/analyze patient profiles in the electronic health record and pharmacy software for coverage notes, and refill requests to providers.
  • Complete prescription sales and collection of pharmacy copays and fees.
  • Close out batches at the end of each shift, and prepare daily deposits.
  • Inventory Management: Order drugs and supplies from wholesalers and other vendors utilizing online systems.
  • Receive, check in, and stock shelves with drugs and supplies; process order errors and returns to vendors.
  • Check stock for outdated medications; process expired medications for return to reverse distributor.
  • Monitor refrigerated items for proper temperature.
  • Complete requested reports and documentation.
  • Perform related duties as instructed or required.
