ChristianaCare is seeking a detail‑oriented and patient‑focused Pharmacy Technician to join our team as a Quality Control Technician. In this position, you will support Pharmacy Services in maintaining compliance with USP standards, including <795>, <797>, and <800> . As the Quality Control Technician, you will provide oversight of the onboarding and training of new compounding staff members, the management of ongoing staff compounding competencies, the maintenance of environmental sampling processes within the sterile compounding areas, and periodic evaluations of compounding locations. You will also assist in the development and maintenance of electronic compounding records to ensure that the health system remains in compliance with all applicable regulatory bodies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification required
  • At least one year of experience as a hospital pharmacy technician

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in health-related field preferred
  • At least one year of experience in sterile compounding preferred
  • Academic course work in research methods or equivalent training through work experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Delivers ongoing education and professional development for all Pharmacy compounding personnel.
  • Assists in updating training materials and competency assessments to reflect current standards and practices.
  • Provides oversight and support for all USP <795>, <797>, and <800> competencies, including media fill testing, fingertip testing, proper gowning and garbing techniques, annual math assessments, didactic instruction, and additional competency requirements as assigned.
  • Supports equipment education and competency validation for all devices.
  • Assists with training on cleaning processes, including proper use of cleaning agents and documentation of all required cleaning tasks.
  • Maintains records related to staff competencies, including media fill results, fingertip testing, gowning/garbing procedures, annual math evaluations, and other required documentation.
  • Performs environmental monitoring in accordance with USP <797> and <800>, including monthly surface sampling across ChristianaCare clean room suites.
  • Reviews media fill results, fingertip tests, and surface sample reports, identifies any growth or deviations, and completes all required documentation of findings.
