About The Position

The University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician - Per Diem to work at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center in Miami. The Pharmacy Technician - Per Diem compounds and dispenses medical prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist. Moreover, an employee in this position performs clerical duties relating to the department, receives and stores incoming supplies. The Pharmacy Technician – Per Diem also verifies stock and enters data into the computer to maintain accurate and complete inventory records.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Florida Pharmacy Tech License.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Weighs, counts, measures, and mixes medication.
• Handles inventory to ensure that the pharmacy is appropriately stocked.
• Receives written prescription, fills prescriptions or refill requests, and verifies that information is complete and accurate.
• Answers telephones and responds to questions or requests.
• Fills bottles with prescribed medications, and types and affixes labels.
• Assists customers by answering simple questions, locating items, and referring them to the appropriate staff.
• Establishes and maintains patient profiles and records.
• Transfers medication from vials to the appropriate number of sterile and disposable syringes using aseptic techniques.
• Supplies and monitors robotic machines that dispense medicine into containers.
• Prepares and processes medical insurance claim forms and handles insurance claim records.
• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
