About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician I is responsible for the preparation of medications pursuant to physician orders, performs sterile and non-sterile compounding in the main pharmacy, repackages bulk medication in unit dose form, restocks automatic dispensing machines, answers phone calls and trouble shoots questions within the scope of their practice, participates in inventory management activities, conducts regular unit inspections, maintains appropriate records and documentations, routinely participates in departmental educational initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum six (6) weeks of pharmacy externship training or two (2) years of retail/ambulatory care experience
  • High School Diploma/ GED or equivalent
  • Graduated from an ASHP accredited program OR non ASHP accredited program + 240 hours of externship, OR two (2) years of inpatient/outpatient hospital experience with a state license
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical compounding (sterile and non-sterile)
  • Proficiency in pharmaceutical math calculations
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Pharmacy Technician Board Certification *CPhT

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years retail/ambulatory care Pharmacy experience
  • Previous experience in a pediatric or hospital outpatient pharmacy setting
  • Associate Degree in Pharmacy Technology
  • Familiarity with Automated Dispensing Cabinet use and other IV workflow automation
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Certified Compounding Sterile Preparation (CSPT)
