We have a full-time opening for an Oncology Pharmacy Tech in our Medical Oncology department at the Calaway Cancer Center. While Pharmacy Tech Certification and prior oncology experience are preferred, we’re happy to train the right person for the role. Procures and distributes medication orders per physician request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures and protocols . Fills automated dispensing machines, medication cassettes, or stock requisitions accurately. Replenishes medications in emergency floor stock areas accurately. Delivers medications and supplies to patient care and ancillary areas. Completes and maintains competency for IV admixtures and Chemotherapy sterile products. As assigned, oversees department purchasing. As assigned, system manager for automated dispensing machines. Responsibilities to include new machine installation, troubleshooting current machine problems, and managing inventory levels. Maintains adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies and procedures. Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing of pharmaceuticals and supplies in appropriate locations. Rotates stock to ensure use before expiration date. Identifies and replaces outdated and unusable drugs. Restocks medication and IV dispensing areas. Prepackages bulk medications in unit dose packages. Contributes to effective operation of the department. Picks up orders, requisitions, and medications for return from patient care areas when on delivery rounds. Enters charges and credits for patient medications accurately. Generates reports, pick lists, and labels as required. Answers requests at the window and makes stat deliveries to patient care areas when requested. Organizes and prioritizes work assignments. Maintains logs, records and other required documentation accurately. Files documentation in appropriate locations. Demonstrates good oral and written communication. Keeps pharmacy areas clean, neat, and well organized. Completes and documents all assigned medication storage area inspections at least monthly. Collects and replaces outdated and unusable medications. Collects data, conducts quality monitors, and completes documentation as assigned. Maintains competence required for current job title/position. Completes all competency and skill assessment requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.
