Pharmacy Technician - Medication Reconciliation (Full-Time, PMs)
About The Position
The Pharmacy Technician-Medication Reconciliation obtains an accurate medication history from the patient, medical record, physician office or pharmacy and enters it into the historic medication module. They work only under the supervision of a provider, registered nurse, or registered pharmacist. These activities are performed within the context of established policies, procedures and techniques of Enloe Medical Center, the Enloe Medical Center Pharmacy, and federal and state standards and regulations. The Pharmacy Technician supports and contributes to the service excellence mission of Enloe Medical Center. Weekend and holiday coverage for this position will be rotated amongst all Med Reconciliation Techs.
Requirements
- Two years of retail pharmacy technician experience OR one year of hospital pharmacy medication reconciliation experience
- Computer experience with pharmacy programs and with Windows
- Currently licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in good standing by the State of California
- Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with health-system staff, pharmacy staff, patients, family members, and other health care professionals.
- Must display Enloe’s core values.
- Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule, organize and perform all duties with accuracy and efficiency.
- Knowledge of pharmacy terminology, abbreviations, brand and generic names of medications.
- Ability to use a computer keyboard and to learn required functions on hospital computers.
- Ability to transcribe pharmacy records, nursing records and physician orders/records from written, verbal or electronic sources and enter information accurately into electronic medical record.
- Understanding of policy and procedure for relevant tasks.
- Ability to assess a situation, consider alternatives and choose the appropriate course of action.
- Ability to utilize good telephone and interpersonal etiquette.
- Demonstrate a desire to learn more and actively pursue that desire.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently.
- Must also be able to self motivate and work independently.
- They should be able to notice inconsistencies and reconcile duplicate or erroneous information.
- Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
