About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY The Medication History Pharmacy Technician works under the direct supervision a Pharmacist to obtain the best possible medication history (BPMH) for new patients being admitted from the Emergency Department (ED) as identified on the tracking board. Medication history information will be obtained from the patient directly or the patient’s family, retail pharmacy, physician office, or other healthcare facility (e.g., Skilled Nursing Facility, Acute Care Hospital) as applicable. The medication history will be entered into the electronic health record in a timely and accurate manner. Completion of the BPMH will be communicated to the pharmacist. In addition to Medication History, this position functions as a standard technician, performing all the duties of a Pharmacy Technician when staffing in the Pharmacy and completes other projects as assigned. Maintains positive public relations by interacting with patients, visitors, physicians and other staff members in a friendly and professional manner. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education/Licensure/Certification: High School graduation or equivalent required. Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of California. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certified. If not certified at the time of hire, must obtain certification within 6 months of hire. Knowledge: Minimum of two years Pharmacy Technician experience required. Previous retail pharmacy experience including prescription transcription duties preferred. Skills: Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills required to interact with patients, coworkers, and other health professionals. Strong knowledge of brand and generic medication names, common dosages and dosage forms, and frequency of administration of each medication. Ability to efficiently maneuver within the Electronic Health System and Pharmacy Information System. Ability to prioritize work and adaptable to changes in workload to meet patient needs. Requirements

Responsibilities
