About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician position at Henry Ford Health involves assisting pharmacists in the distribution and processing of prescriptions, as well as managing over-the-counter medication sales. The role includes entering prescription data into the computer, performing billing and file maintenance, and interacting with customers to provide excellent service. The technician will also assist in training new staff and maintaining inventory records under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
• Minimum of six (6) months of retail pharmacy experience preferred.
• Requires valid State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician license.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and prepackages medication for administration to patients under the supervision of pharmacists.
• Enters prescription information and processes prescriptions in the computer.
• Assists in the orientation and training of new staff.
• Obtains personal and insurance information from new customers and enters it into the computer.
• Takes prescription refill orders over the phone from customers.
• Collects payments for prescription retail sales or OTC sales.
• Straightens and inventories all over-the-counter medications and sundry items.
• Maintains appropriate records of medication dispensed.
• Helps in the reprocessing of rejected prescriptions.
