About The Position

Under direct supervision, the Pharmacy Technician IV for Ambulatory Medication Reconciliation (TOSH Preoperative Clinic Support) will have responsibility for performing and coordinating high-quality medication reconciliations to support perioperative care efforts at TOSH. This position must demonstrate special skills, knowledge, and task completion, including expertise in medication history collection, EHR navigation, medication discrepancy identification, and preoperative medication safety workflows. Medication reconciliations will be completed in advance of scheduled preoperative clinic appointments, with the goal of ensuring an accurate medication list is available for clinical decision-making prior to surgery. This role supports perioperative medication safety by identifying discrepancies, clarifying medication regimens, and escalating clinically significant concerns to appropriate providers and/or pharmacists according to established workflows. The Medication Reconciliation Technician IV will work directly with clinic leadership, perioperative teams, and pharmacy leadership to maintain and improve medication reconciliation workflows, documentation standards, performance metrics, and compliance.

Requirements

  • HS/GED plus 4 yrs Pharmacy Tech Experience or Bachelor's Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • 1 year to obtain ASHP/ACPE-accredited technician training or certificate program
  • Arkansas Pharmacy Technician Registration
  • National Technician Certification (PTCB)

Nice To Haves

  • B.S. or higher degree
  • ASHP/ACPE-accredited technician training
  • Previous sterile compounding experience, hazardous drug handling, etc.
  • Previous management or team leader experience
  • Specialized certificate or certification (i.e., PTCB Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician, ASHP Sterile Compounding Certificate, 340B Certification, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Supervises pharmacy staff, including technicians, volunteers, and students.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates, and administers human resources functions for direct reports.
  • Oversees day-to-day pharmacy operations, including entering prescription orders, operating the point of sale system, and providing customer service.
  • Provides patient support by conducting bedside deliveries and preparing intravenous medications as needed.
  • Collaborates with department leadership to support initiatives, including planning for future programs and services, patient and staff safety, and operational improvements.
  • Manages the controlled substance storage and distribution program in compliance with all federal and state laws regarding controlled substances
  • Performs other duties as needed.
