Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Completion of two years of college with at least one general mathematics course preferred.
  • One year of hospital or home infusion pharmacy experience required.
  • Minimum of six months of Lurie Children's cleanroom experience.
  • Three months of chemotherapy experience with leadership assessment of competency.
  • Licensed as Registered Pharmacy Technician in the State of Illinois.
  • Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
  • Good aseptic technique and strong mathematical skills.
  • Data entry skills or ability to learn computer data entry.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Good manual dexterity and ability to differentiate colors.
  • Ability to lift at least 10 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients regarding their growth and development and drug disposition process in the selection of dosage forms.
  • Follow instructions accurately and maintain a well-organized work routine.
  • Complete an annual validation of aseptic techniques and cytotoxic agent handling, including handling of multiple-dispensed sterile bulk products.
