Job Title Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient Location Euclid Facility Euclid Hospital Department Pharmacy-Euclid Hospital Job Code C14003 Shift Day/Evening/Night/Weekend Schedule 6:00am-9:30pm Job Summary The inpatient pharmacy technician supports pharmacists in providing pharmacy services. The technician is responsible for packaging, preparation, and distribution of medications, inventory control, customer service and maintaining pharmacy records. A caregiver in this position works rotating variable shifts starting from 6:00 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Must meet all of the following license and certification combination requirements at the time of application:
  • Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) OR the National HealthCareer Association (NHA) AND it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee.
  • If certified but current status with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) is Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee it is required to update registration status to a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the OBOP within six months of hire.

  • Understanding of algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds

Nice To Haves

  • Six months of hospital experience
  • Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program

Responsibilities

  • Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.
  • Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Document regulatory requirements, including temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.
  • Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
  • Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.
