The Pharmacy Technician – Inpatient role at Cleveland Clinic supports medication distribution for all hospitalized patients, playing a critical role in ensuring timely, accurate medication delivery as part of patient care. This position offers flexible scheduling and strong growth opportunities to learn new technician roles and work across multiple operational areas. Responsibilities include typical inpatient pharmacy functions such as medication filling and delivery, operating the carousel system, sterile compounding, and inventory management, with additional opportunities for cross-training in specialized areas like oncology. This is a PRN role. A caregiver in this position works a minimum 2 shifts per month and will work primarily 1st and 2nd shift outlined below: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM 11:00 AM – 10:30 PM 12:00 PM – 10:30 PM

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Current licensure in Florida as a Registered Pharmacy Technician
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within 18 months of hire
  • Ability to perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds
  • Basic computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program
  • Six months of hospital experience

Responsibilities

  • Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding, and sterile compounding.
  • Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate inventory of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities, and training.
  • Use information systems, technology, and automation to complete assigned tasks.
  • Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.
