About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient position at Columbia St. Mary's in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, involves providing distributive pharmacy services and technical support for the Pharmacist prior to receiving certification. The role requires working rotating shifts, totaling 36 hours per week, with a schedule that includes 5 shifts one week and 4 shifts the next, including every other weekend and 3 holidays per year. The hours will rotate between 7am to 3:30pm, 9am to 5:30pm, 1pm to 9:30pm, or 3pm to 11:30pm, with approximately 40% of the time spent on evening shifts. The position is full-time and on-site.

Requirements

  • Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Wisconsin Pharmacy Examining Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Registration with the Wisconsin Pharmacy Examining Board required.
  • Must provide proof of application to register with the Wisconsin Pharmacy Examining Board and maintain registration once granted.
  • Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association preferred.
  • Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) preferred.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide distributive pharmacy services and technical support for the Pharmacist prior to receiving certification.
  • Refill and maintain automated dispensing systems.
  • Prepare orders and maintain inventory for the Pharmacy department.
  • Prepare sterile and non-sterile compounds.
  • Repackage bulk medications.
  • Receive and store incoming supplies.
  • Triage incoming calls and serve as a liaison between pharmacy, patient, and health professionals by providing information.
