Requirements

  • Michigan Licensed Pharmacy Technician
  • Experience in retail pharmacy and/or infusion pharmacy, claim reconciliation or accounting background helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Dispense prescription drugs to patients and assist in the preparation and charging of medications and supplies under the supervision of the pharmacist.
  • Provide quality patient care and excellent customer service.
  • Process, enter, and interpret physician orders focusing on either infusion pharmacy or specialty retail pharmacy.
  • Follow departmental procedures with regard to inventory control, claims submission, and other administrative tasks.
  • Input customer and prescription data into pharmacy computer system.
  • Create prescription labels, accurately retrieve medication for dispensing, and place medication into prescription containers.
  • Ensure excellent customer service in the Retail Pharmacy department.
  • Inventory control and accurate handling of pharmaceuticals, packing slips, and invoices.
  • Handle telephone inquiries, and assist in resolving issues and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Ensure claims are properly filed in the QS-1 NRx environment.
  • Enter customer purchases into Point-of-Sale system.
  • Accept telephone prescriptions and refills from physician offices as well as written prescriptions from patients.
  • Complete paperwork related to filling prescriptions.
  • Using aseptic technique, accurately prepare Compounded Sterile Products (CSP), including anticancer chemotherapeutic medications under the direct or indirect supervision of a Pharmacist.
  • Ensure the safety of all patients and personnel by following CHC protocols and NIOSH/OSHA guidelines for preparation, delivery, and disposal of potentially cytotoxic agents.
  • Enter physician orders correctly, check patient profiles, allergies, duplicate therapies, and drug interactions for review by a Pharmacist or other qualified healthcare professional.
  • Precisely charge and credit patients, nursing units, and other facilities for medications dispensed from Pharmacy.
  • Monitor and maintain drug (including controlled substances), research, indigent, and sample inventories and associated logs.
  • Perform all other duties assigned.
