About The Position

Under the guidance of the Pharmacy Business Manager and under the supervision of the Pharmacy Director, the Pharmacy Technician In-training will perform the functions of a Pharmacy Technician in training by assisting Pharmacist in filling and labeling patient's prescriptions, updating patient personal and insurance information and ensuring accuracy in the prescription filling process. Requirements

• Must be enrolled in PSI's Pharmacy Tech Prep Online Employer-based Training Program.
• Must sign up and take the PTCB exam within 6 months of hire.
• Pass PTCB exam and obtain licensure within 1 year of hire.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Enrollment in PSI's Pharmacy Tech Prep Online Employer-based Training Program.

Nice To Haves

• Computer and Medical Terminology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Enters prescription orders into QS1 accurately and efficiently.
• Creates and updates patient’s personal profile in EHR including patient demographics, allergy information, and insurance information.
• Counts 25 prescriptions per hour accurately and efficiently.
• Ensures that the patient receives correct prescriptions.
• Answer the phone in a timely manner.
• Assists Pharmacists with filling and labeling prescriptions.
• Communicates with providers and their staff to obtain refill authorization.
• Knowledge of common medication brands and generic names, doses, and indication to patients and staff.
• Collect cash and/ or credit for payment of prescriptions
• Understanding of medical terminology
• Ability to respect confidentiality and patient data
• Maintains a courteous, helpful and conscientious attitude in dealing with co-workers and patients and their families ensuring professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
• Keeps work area neat and clean.
• Regular and prompt attendance at work.
• All other duties as assigned.
