About The Position

Job Title: Pharmacy Technician III FULL TIME 1ST SHIFT Job Description: Pharmacy technician III is a certified pharmacy technician position who supports pharmacy services by assembling and participating in the distribution of medications. Must have certification by a nationally recognized pharmacy technician certification board. This position will assist the department's professional staff, under direct supervision, in numerous aspects of ordering, receiving, storage, distribution, and monitoring medication use. This position will also require knowledge of USP 797 and sterile compounding. He/she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time. Adheres to infection control policies and protocols and maintains a safe and clean pharmacy, while also maintaining a neat and orderly work area.

Requirements

• Nationally certified as a pharmacy technician.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months of hospital pharmacy experience.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques.
• Knowledge of metric, apothecary weight and measurement conversions.
• Understanding of normal drug dosages, routes of administration, and dosing schedules.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and participate in the distribution of medications.
• Assist the department's professional staff under direct supervision.
• Order, receive, store, distribute, and monitor medication use.
• Fill stock orders, inpatient and outpatient orders within state and federal laws.
• Package and label all medication per department guidelines.
• Prepare unit of use medication when appropriate.
• Perform station inspections for assigned areas.
• Order needed medications and check in and stock ordered medications.
• Fill stocking reports from automation to restock units, cart fill, and cabinet restocking.
• Perform necessary calculations accurately.
• Work on cost containment of compounded sterile products.
