About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician shall be responsible to perform most of the technical functions involved in the medication use process. This individual shall assist the Pharmacist in the preparation and compounding of pharmaceutical products, assessing inventory of pharmacy products, and resolving problems with insurance claims as they arise during the dispensing function, as applicable to location. Cross training in one key functional area [examples provided in Technician Career Ladder]. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 year of Pharmacy Technician experience required.
  • Active ALBOP Pharmacy Tech certification required, CPhT certification required
  • Ability to maintain a professional and customer- centric composure in difficult or challenging situations
  • Ability to prioritize workload to achieve maximum efficiency
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people throughout the organization
  • Ability to provide a positive customer service experience
  • Knowledge of HIPAA standards and regulations
  • Ability to accurately type and perform assigned computer duties
  • Proficient in needed pharmaceutical calculations, the metric system and if applicable, cash register use
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and competency with Microsoft Outlook for email communication
  • Competent with pharmacy systems and related technology and equipment for practice setting
  • Position requires sitting for 20% of the workday and mobility 80% of the workday. There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action. Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds. There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels. Much exposure to computer work. Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock. Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks. Some exposure to hazardous chemicals. Occasional exposure to radiation.
