The position involves assisting the pharmacist in providing optimal pharmaceutical care to patients. The role includes gathering, labeling, and distributing medications accurately and efficiently. The pharmacy technician will also package, prepare, and safely compound medications, including hazardous substances, while ensuring compliance with safety standards. Additionally, the technician will handle, manage, and distribute controlled substances in accordance with regulatory requirements and department policies, and assist with drug diversion surveillance. If qualified, the technician may perform the duties of a Tech-Check-Tech Pharmacy Technician. The role also includes assisting with the training of new pharmacy staff and maintaining accurate medication inventories and billing of medications. Effective communication utilizing established systems and processes is essential, and responsibilities must be performed with attention to age and ability considerations.
