About The Position

The position involves various job functions related to pharmacy operations, including filling orders, distribution and returns, teamwork, sterile preparations, automated dispensing machine management, repackaging and inventory control, performance improvement, education and training, and adherence to standards and regulations. The role requires accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards in all pharmacy-related tasks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Hospital Pharmacy experience preferred.
  • PTCB or NHA certification active or acquire within 6 months of hire.
  • Current active registration with the State of NJ Board of Pharmacy required.

Responsibilities

  • Fills orders accurately and promptly for the pharmacist to check and dispense.
  • Prepares extemporaneous preparations accurately.
  • Stocks all areas and replenishes carts, trays, boxes, and kits accurately.
  • Legibly signs all paperwork associated with these processes.
  • Notes problems on patient profiles for the pharmacist to follow up on when necessary.
  • Handles requests via phone, window, fax, and computer in a professional and timely manner.
  • Distributes orders to the appropriate pharmacist for processing when necessary.
  • Delivers medications to specified areas via pneumatic tubes, hand-delivery, and courier.
  • Sorts returns from nursing stations.
  • Supports departmental goals as a team player by assisting staff members and being flexible in roles and responsibilities.
  • Prepares IVs aseptically and in a timely manner promoting efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Checks rates and status of IVs and assists in the coordination of treatments and clearances to minimize waste and optimize treatment.
  • Fills automated dispensing machines accurately and promptly.
  • Removes expired medications and records destruction.
  • Repackages oral medications accurately and assures all products are bar-coded.
  • Checks expirations on all medications and retrieves recalled medications from stock locations.
  • Answers phones, window, and door promptly and courteously.
  • Completes all competency training and participates in education and training programs for new employees.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of standards and regulations and maintains proper documentation.
