As a Pharmacy Technician you will contribute to a positive patient experience by providing quality service in a busy inpatient pharmacy. You will fill routine orders for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals as well as prepare and maintain computerized charges for patient billing purposes. Accuracy and efficiency are of the utmost importance for providing quality care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Education.
  • Georgia State Board of Pharmacy Technician registration license.
  • Current certification from National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, Inc. or National Healthcareer Association preferred.
  • Hospital or retail Pharmacy Technician experience.

Responsibilities

  • Pulling medication from stock and ensuring the drug and amount match the information on patient labels.
  • Making rounds, delivering medications, restocking automated dispensing cabinets, and reconciling discrepancies of automated dispensing cabinet charges.
  • Performing cart fill and stocking patients' matrix drawers.
  • Performing IV rounds and crediting patient accounts appropriately.
  • Answering the telephone, receiving and relaying messages as needed.
  • Assuring that no legend drug leaves the pharmacy without being physically checked by a licensed Pharmacist.
  • Typing labels.
  • Performing floor visits, removing and updating medication in the automated dispensing cabinets and monitoring overall inventory for outdates.
  • Performing narcotic rounds including inventorying and delivering narcotics to automated dispensing cabinets and inventorying and delivering returns to the pharmacy.
  • When working in the Emergency Care Center - pulling medication history for patients from medication history data source and obtaining accurate and current patient medication list through patient and family interviews.
