We are proud to be a National Cancer Institute (NCI) Designated Cancer Center, 1 of only 72 in the United States, and the only one in the state of Kansas. Patients treated at an NCI-designated cancer center have a 25% greater chance of survival compared to other cancer centers and our Pharmacy Technicians play a vital role in helping us provide great care. Cancer Care Pharmacy Technician's primary role is performing sterile compounding of cancer medications in our clean rooms. In addition, Pharmacy Technicians are responsible for daily cleaning of the sterile compounding areas, stocking supplies, calibrating equipment, scanning orders into the electronic medical record (EPIC) to ensure accuracy, placing as well as receiving drug orders, and stocking automated dispensing cabinets (Omnicell).
