About The Position

This position is for a Pharmacy Technician I in the Pharmacy Department at Texas Health Dallas. It is a full-time role, 40 hours a week, with rotating night schedules. The Pharmacy Department is characterized by a team-based culture, diverse workforce, recognition for achievements, daily team huddles, and an open-door policy for communication. Key responsibilities include receiving orders from wholesalers and vendors, handling boxes up to 50 lbs, and processing and distributing received medications and IV fluids to various areas. Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required
  • RPhT - Registered Pharmacy Technician Upon Hire is required
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English language
  • Proficiency in computers
  • Ability to adapt to various software systems
  • Basic math including conversions, proportions, ratios, and algebra
  • The ability to work alone and as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months of hospital or retail experience is strongly preferred
  • IV Certification is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Receiving orders from wholesalers and vendors.
  • Handling up to 50 lbs boxes and processing/distributing received medications/IV fluids in various areas.
  • Timely and accurate preparation, delivery to the nursing units/appropriate departments & storage of medications, including (when appropriate) the use of technology to do so, varies by location.
  • Ensuring accuracy of one's own work as well as the maintenance of required competencies, and other documentation.
  • Reflecting consistently departmental quality improvement and Patient Safety standards, programs, and initiatives.
  • Ongoing professional development and growth, leads by example, perpetuates accountability, manages own time.
  • Communicate effectively, develop positive working relationships and role model teamwork that reflects the Texas Health Promise Behaviors.
  • Trains new employees on routine tasks, under the direction of designated personnel.
  • Shares the responsibility for minimizing pharmaceutical costs (including wastage) and discovering new process efficiencies.
