About The Position

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • License as a Massachusetts Registered Pharmacy Technician or Registration as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee required.
  • Certificate 1 EXCPT or Certificate 2 Pharm Tech Cert Board required.
  • CPhT for EXCPT or PTCB is required within 60 days of hire.
  • 0-1 years of related work experience required.
  • Experience with computer systems, including web-based applications and Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Three to six months of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital or retail setting.
  • Ability to perform simple and complex pharmaceutical calculations.
  • Familiarity with medications, their generic and trade names, methods of administration, and conversion between metric and apothecary systems.

Responsibilities

  • Restocks floor stock and automated dispensing machines.
  • Enters charges and credits against patient profiles to ensure accurate billing.
  • Monitors medication order reports to assign medications to automated dispensing machines.
  • Delivers all medications in compliance with DEA, DPH, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Prepares and delivers IV medications in accordance with Federal USP797 and USP800 standards.
  • Maintains records pertaining to IV admixtures and cleanliness in sterile areas, completing quality assurance tasks.
  • Repackages bulk supplies of medications in unit of use packaging according to Federal USP795 and USP800 standards.
  • Checks for expired medications within the pharmacy and automated dispensing cabinets, ensuring proper disposal of expired or damaged medications.
