About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician I plays a crucial role in supporting the pharmacy operations by performing essential tasks under the supervision of a pharmacist. This position involves prescription data entry, medication preparation, and coordination with various departments to ensure timely delivery of medications to patients. The technician is responsible for maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations while assisting in inventory management and customer service.

Requirements

• Must have pharmacy intern license or active pharmacy technician licensure/registration as per state laws.
• If applicable, must possess both active pharmacy technician licensure and an active national certification (e.g., PTCB or ExCPT).
• Experience in specialty or retail pharmacy, reimbursement, or healthcare settings is preferred.
• Proficiency in pharmacy computerized systems and MS Office Suite is required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues effectively.
• Experience in prescription entry, picking, labeling, and preparing medication orders.

Responsibilities

• Perform prescription data entry and maintain accurate records.
• Communicate with patients, physicians, and insurance companies to ensure updated prescription information.
• Prepare and affix shipping labels to medication packages.
• Assemble and package medications and supplies for shipping.
• Assist in maintaining inventory and managing expiration dates of medications.
• Attend department meetings as scheduled.
• Coordinate with customer service, billing, pharmacy, and shipping departments to ensure timely order processing.
• Verify prescription elements and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Create pre-packaged supply items and prepare delivery tickets.
